Smokey Point Volleyball Club recieves GMS certification.

When SPVC was formed, our goal was to provide the highest quality coaching available. We are proud to announce that over the summer we received club certification from Gold Medal Squared.

GMS is a volleyball education group founded and operated by some of the best college and Olympic coaches in the country. They host coaching clinics all over the country during the off season so coaches can expand their knowledge and stay current with the most cutting edge science in our sport.

We are proud to be able to say that roughly ninety percent of our coaching staff has been to a GMS coach’s clinic. This year alone we sent six of our coaches to the clinic at University of Washington.

By forming an experienced core of coaches and recruiting new talent and providing the best training available we feel we are well on our way to having the best coaching staff in the Puget Sound Region.

Thanks for believing in the GMS systems to the point where you’ve pursued club certification.  We’ve added your club to our “Certified Club” list on our website…Chris McGown

Gold Medal Squared is the collaborative effort of some of our countries most successful and experienced coaches. Dr. Carl McGown, Dr. Marv Dunphy, Dr. Doug Beal, Jim McLaughlin and the rest of our staff bring over 300 years of combined coaching experience.  Our staff has been at the top of the game at every level: High School, Club, Collegiate, Professional Foreign Leagues, and International competition. Gold Medal Squared Volleyball Camps and Clinics was created with one goal in mind – improving the quality of volleyball players and volleyball coaches.

Coach Julianna Bethune

Sophomore, Everett Community College
Sport: Volleyball

“Julianna was a member of the Everett Trojans volleyball team.  While playing volleyball Julianna was active as a student ambassador, member of the Society of Women Engineers, Phi Theta Kappa and the STEM club at EVCC.

Julianna has been consistently recognized for her outstanding academic prowess by receiving the Frederick Giles Award, NWAC Academic Award and has been named to the Dean’s list each quarter at Everett Community College.

In addition to all of these activities she was selected to participate in a workshop at the Armstrong Flight Research Center in Palmdale, California.  Julianna and her teammates developed a rover that was to be used in a Mars simulation mission.  Her team won the competition.

Julianna aspires to be an Astronaut and at Everett she has been studying Aerospace Engineering.  She will have graduated with her AA degree and a 4.0 gpa.  Julianna will transfer to the University of Washington in the fall and continue her pursuit of a degree in Aerospace engineering.  After finishing her education, Julianna wants to one-day work for NASA as an aerospace engineer and either be designing, developing or testing aerospace vehicles.”

Congratulations to Coach Julianna! We are very proud of you and honored that you are a part of our volleyball family and teams. Thank you for your commitment to your team and the younger players. You are a true example of a student athlete.
